Special note: Anyone teaching at the Arthur Findlay College of the
Advancement of Psychic Science must be proficient in their field of
teaching and they must undergo specific training at the College. A
"Teachers' Week" is held yearly for those wishing to become part of the
College teaching staff.
I have had many teachers in my journey with Spirit. I have always felt
I have always been lead, by Spirit, to all of them. This also includes
the teachers I had at Stansted Hall. Thelma is from Scotland. Her
energy was so high and she helped me so much that I felt that she was
truly a "Kindred Spirit". I also adored the clothes she wore and when
I complemented her, she told me she had bought most of them in the
States on her visits there. JC Penny was one of her favorite stores.
Elaine and Mavis are from England. They were fantastic as people and
it was a pleasure to learn from them both.
In these classes, philosophy is touched upon, but the main focus is
drawing Spirit to you, holding them within "your power" and proving the
continuity of life and truth eternal. This was one of the reasons I
stretched across the Atlantic, to increase my knowledge and potential
as a Medium of NSAC. I also wanted to experience the differences and
similarities the English mediums have to offer. I did find that, if
they are certified, in some way they MUST prove the continuity of life
or loose their credentials. They do work differently than NSAC
Mediums, as they are not always sure of whom they are directed to at
first. Their accuracy is phenomenal, once the process is at its height.
They work by giving bits of information at a time even when they have
narrowed it down to one person. As the person in the congregation
answers yes to each question the energy of the spirit person speaking
to the medium continues to build. I found this intriguing and do use
this method at times, more so in private readings lasting more than a
half hour.
Here is a picture of Patti with one of our new friends, Victor.
Victor's wife Marion is sitting at my side and was in the smaller class
with me. They are from Canada and attend a Spiritualist Church in
there. We had a wonderful time with them. Two of our teachers and
other classmates are in the background. We were doing an exercise in
remote viewing. Our team won. Of course, they had me as group leader,
I teach it! Ha-Ha!
Because it was a week of different types of psychic energy as well
as mediumship, we learned several other ways of giving messages. Of
course we did psychometry, that was the day I took a nap and boy did I
need it. I had been working with psychometry and teaching it for
quite a number of years, hence felt it would not miss anything by
taking care of myself that day.
On the first day we worked with altered states of consciousness and
were given exercises in getting from Beta to Theta and Delta if we
wished. I worked extensively with this here at home because of my work
with trance. Part of the experiment we did at the end of the first
and second week had a lot to do with this class and I am glad we spent
time with it. It is very important to understand where you are at
when giving messages and understand that you are in control. We have
also been taught this here in the United States. We were taught
breathing patterns to help us relax and connect with the spirit
world. That day we also worked on what is called the "Pyramid of
Power". I found this very interesting and it has helped me in my own
meditations so much I am now developing a class around this premise.
We learned about the Seven Electromagnetic Energies around your body.
We were given exercised on how to use them. This was so much fun
mostly because during this class some of us started seeing colored
auras. That was a first for me at that clarity, they also put a lot of
emphasis on dignity and respect for self, for the person receiving the
reading and for the spirit people you are speaking to.
In one of the classes taught by Mavis, we learned the "ING" of
Spirit. I found this to be quite interesting because when you really
give it some thought it is what every medium and every Spiritualist
should practice. (Sharing, caring, considering, encouraging,
preparing, aspiring, believing, approving, discerning, comforting
allowing and daring). These are just a few of the lessons presented by the three teachers we had the first week.
On the Friday of the end of our first week each small group had to give
a service presentation for the whole group. One gentleman was chosen
to chair and one to do the sermon, we had one of our group who was an
artist do spirit drawings, Elaine, who I had become great friends with
gave a color reading. Brian, (not my husband, he was home) did
inspirational speaking and I was chosen to give the spirit message.
Although I have served the podium for many years here in the States as
an NSAC, Certified Medium, I was nervous. I had to give the information
in the style the British mediums do. It was about 98 degrees with about
90 percent humidity in the building with no air conditioning and I had
to dress up. I felt like I was in a sauna.
I began to give the information I was receiving and 4 people had
their hands raised. As I continued to give the information I was
receiving, there were less and less people who recognized who I was
bringing in. Finally as I gave my last sentence about the description
of the person, I saw no hands! Just as I was about to ask again I saw
Patti raise her hand. She had her hand up but I was unable to see it,
as she did not raise it high enough. Boy was I surprised and
relieved. It seemed the person that came in was Patti's father in
law. I explained as I was taught at the College, that Patti and I were
friends but had no information about the person I was bringing to her.
As I went on with the message I kept getting confirmation from her and
the information kept on coming. I find this way of working good mostly
when Spirit needs me to inform someone I know. When I am too close to
a person, I feel the information I am receiving may be something we
have spoken about. In working with the "English Method" of proof of
continuity, I found it worked out well for this reason. I am to use
to the way I have been working in the US and I trust my guides to adapt
now. But as I have said before, the British have their strong
points. The whole idea is to take all you learned and utilize what is
best for you.
The week of intensive training in trance introduce me to another
guide, speaking through me as well as strengthening the relationship I
have with "Andrea" the guide I have been working with for the past 3
years. This new relationship I began in England with my male guide,
has been wonderful and informative. Although I do not know his name,
he is funny and comforting. I have realized also that one of the
reasons I have Andrea is, she works with nature and the "way of things"
as she calls it, answering nothing personal but on a "what is best"
basis. My new guide is here to answer more personal questions.
It was proven to me during this second week of intense trance, that
anyone working hard enough with the proper training can do trance.
There are certain ground rules and it may take more than a week. The
point is, you must want to communicate in this way and work toward it.
Learn the ground rules and work and altering your state of
consciousness. Keep an even mind and live a healthy life. To prove
this to myself, I developed a class where by I gave my students the
ground rules and we practiced for several months. When they were
comfortable enough with each other, they each sat in the "Spirit Chair"
as I call it. The rest of us just observed and gave them energy.
Yes! It worked for all of them to a degree. Eight of those interested
in trance were able to let go enough to allow spirit to speak through
them.
I certainly enjoyed my classes and the teachers. I have been able to
keep in touch with several of my student friends as well as receive
information from the teachers I had in those two weeks at Arthur
Findlay Collage.
My Trip to Arthur Findlay College
Stansted, England - Summer 2006
Part 3 of 4
As we have our Nine Principals of Spiritualism, The Spiritualists' National Union has their Seven Principals of Spiritualism.
1. The Fatherhood of God
2. The Brotherhood of Man
3. The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels
4. The Continuous Existence of the Human Soul
5. Personal Responsibility
6. Compensation and Retribution Hereafter for all Good & Evil Deeds Done on Earth.
7. Eternal Progress Open to Every Human Soul
Although a little masculine directed and right to the point, they do in a way coincide with our own NSAC Principles.
